The brush smeared the photograph as it recreated the picture, treating the imagery as though it was wet paint. The Subtle Palette Knife was used on these trees in their Autumn colors, the brush was used on a clone copy but with the image not cleared. The examples below for the Subtle Palette Knife and Tiny Subtle Knife have both been used directly upon the image.
